What dreadful sociological implications would this EVD have on the psyche of this generation, particularly from the point of view of being our brother’s keeper, being humane, etc? But can we describe it as “modern” when the potential for spread is higher in poverty stricken and filthy societies? We are told the plague was officially first noticed in 1976 or so. It has been predominant in West Africa for some decade but no preparations to tackle it by our governments. We now are begging for the yet scientifically unproven drugs from other societies whose governments have shown some element of foresight.

      Dear Femi,

Thanks v. much for the insightful contribution. It is scary how our humanity will be destroyed by this horrible virus.

Education is the key because the people who shunned their fellow humans do not understand how the virus can be contracted. It is education that governments across the sub-region must work on or else we are in great danger.
