The effort of the Lagos State Government (LASG) to turn the old Lagos State House on The Marina to a Heritage Center has given Governor Ambode’s vision a big boost by the gesture of President Buhari to hand over the Presidential Lodge to the State. The Lodge is next door to the Lagos State House; both are colonial-era edifices.

Ambode’s request for a release of the complex to the Government of Nigeria was to help the LASG have access to enough real estate to transform the Marina-Onikan axis into a complex for world-class arts and tourism center.

To have these two beautiful complexes remain in public hands for usage that would restore some of the beauty, as well as create a center of culture and tourism on The Marina is very heartening news.

The release to Lagos State is a very good gesture by Buhari for which he deserves the commendation of all.
