NIGERIA: Video [M’óhùn m’áwòrán] on restructuring worth sharing – Afrospace TV

Dear Blog visitors,

You’d need to pardon my inability to translate into English Language the address of Peter Ayodele Fayose, one of the state governors in Yoruba’s Southwestern Nigeria homeland at a Summit on Restructuring: The Yoruba Agenda 2017.

The summit was held under the aegis of Atayese, a Yoruba socio-cultural organization,  under the Chairmanship of Elder Statesman, Chief Afe Babalola, a legal luminary and Founder, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti.

Proceedings were reported here three weeks ago (September 11, 2017); a communique issued at the end of the Summit forms part of the post, and can be accessed through a link at the bottom of this page.

A point to be mentioned about today’s post for non-Nigerian visitors:

restructuring,  is a long-sought dialogue of the different nationalities that make up the country through British colonization to discuss the continued existence of Nigeria as one entity where each of the ethnic nationalities would be treated as equals, in short, a true “federation” that would ensure development, the much-touted “unity” for peaceful country.

It’s almost impossible to enjoy the address without a mastery of the Yoruba language; many Yoruba speakers would listen to the recording and have a fair understanding but if they lack a good understanding of idioms, proverbs, et cetera that are prevalent to good speakers, they may not get as many laughs as this address that is a throwback to the likes of late S.L. Akintola, Adegoke Adelabu – contains.

It’s Yoruba political campaignstyle oratory, a bit of which can be found in an essay posted here three years ago – The antecedent of Yoruba campaign oratory buried under “The Abatis and Okupes in Yoruba’s usual political left-over post of “Federal” Akéde do not to the position come well-equipped – Tọla Adenle”. Even if you do not speak Yoruba – link below – you’d have an idea of the kind of address Fayose gave on a subject that has been topical in Nigeria for decades, and now more so.

I know you will bear with me – TOLA.
